Topic 4: A Good ViewQuestion: What is the view like around the place where you live?Answer: So I live in a suburb of Manchester, just outside of the city centre, and when I look out of my window, I can see the street where I live. There are some semi-detached houses and small gardens—the front gardens of the houses. Usually, I can see one or two people walking past. But it"s usually peaceful. The houses are quite nice. Some of the gardens are well kept, and some of them are a bit messy, including mine. Mine"s messier than it should be. It"s a little embarrassing, but mostly what I see is something peaceful and quite a relaxed place.Question: Have you seen an unforgettable and beautiful view or scenery?Answer: Yeah, actually very recently I visited Austria on holiday, and we went to an area called Upper Austria, which is in the western part of Austria. It is basically mountains and lakes and incredible scenery. It"s one of the most beautiful places that I"ve ever been in my whole life. We only had three days, and unfortunately, the weather was really bad all three of those days. It was rainy, and it was cold. So I don"t think that I made the most of my time there, but I definitely want to go back because it"s unbelievable scenery with the mountains and the lakes and the greenery. It"s absolutely incredible.Question: Do you take photos when you see a good view?Answer: I sometimes take photos. I"m a big believer in living your life and not spending all of your time taking photos to share on social media. So I try to, if I am going to take photos, only take photos of things that I feel are really worthwhile and try to do it as quickly as possible so that if we think about it in percentage terms, I might spend 1% of my holiday taking photos and 99% of my holiday enjoying myself. I know some people, it"s more like 50-50, but I think that that"s too much. But I think it"s definitely worth taking photos because they help to preserve the memory of the things that you"ve seen and the places that you"ve been.Question: What is your favourite place?Answer: My favourite place, I think, has to be the city of Vancouver. So Vancouver is on the western coast of Canada, just north of Seattle, and I studied there. I studied one year as an exchange student, and it is an incredible place. It"s got amazing food, it has great outdoors, everybody"s very nice, and wherever you go in the city, there"s amazing scenery. So you look, and you can see mountains with snow on the top, and then you turn to your left, and you can see the beach and the sea, and then there are forests. It"s a great place to go running, to go hiking. The air is very fresh. So overall, Vancouver is a wonderful place. It"s unfortunately very expensive. That"s the only problem.
