Topic 11: BikesQuestion: Did you have a bike when you were young?Answer: Yeah, in fact, I actually had a lot of bikes when I was young because a lot of them would get stolen. Every time one of my bikes got stolen, my dad would find a new bike and put it together. He"s very good at fixing bikes, so he would find different bike parts, make them all into a new bike, give me that new bike, and I would ride it for a few months, and then it would be stolen again. My dad would get very angry, but I really enjoyed riding bikes. So I used to ride to school and from school every day on my bike. It was a very important part of my childhood.Question: Do you have a bike now?Answer: I do have a bike now, yes. I don"t ride it very often. I probably ride it maybe twice a week, usually when I"m either going to the gym or going into Manchester city centre and need to ride to the train station or the bus stop to catch the bus or train. But most of the time, I work from home or walk to places around my house, so I don"t have to use it every day. But I do have a bike.Question: Are bikes popular in your country?Answer: I think bikes are relatively popular in England. They"re certainly quite popular in the summer. The problem with using bikes in England is that it rains a lot, and it"s hard to ride a bike in the rain because you just get so wet. It"s very unpleasant, and then you do it once, and you never want to ride a bike again. So it is not as popular as in some other countries. Another problem we have is that we don"t have too many bike lanes. So quite often, if you"re riding, you"ll be next to the cars, and so it can be quite dangerous. I think in the future, if we have more bike lanes like other countries in Europe do, then things could be better, and bikes could be more popular. But we will always be battling against having terrible weather, so I don"t think that they will become extremely popular anytime soon.Question: Do you think it"s important for people to learn to ride bikes?Answer: I do think that"s an important thing, yeah. I think it"s one of those life skills that we should learn, and they would be things like learning to ride a bike, learning to drive, learning to swim, and learning basic first aid so if someone gets into an accident, you can help them. I think even if you are not planning to ride a bike ever again in your life, it"s a good thing to learn how to do it at least once, and then you"ll have the confidence to know that in an emergency, you can still ride a bike.编辑：Moon▼IDE英创教育
