Principal Speech by Dr. Rath

I believe you all had a fulfilling and enjoyable holiday. Perhaps you read books you’ve always desired to read and obtained new knowledge from them; perhaps you explored new places, broadening your horizons; or perhaps you spent quality time with family and friends and gained love and strength. These experiences will become your treasures, fueling your energy for the new semester.A new semester brings new challenges and opportunities. I do believe in your infinite potential—each of you has the ability to succeed in the face of challenges. Step out of your comfort zone, try new things, and challenge yourself. You will discover that your potential is far greater than you imagined. Learning is like climbing a mountain, only by taking the first step can you enjoy the breathtaking view from the summit. To help you achieve your goals, I encourage you to set specific and clear objectives for this semester. These goals could be academic, such as improving grades in a particular subject or mastering a new study method. They could also be personal, like developing a new skill or actively participating in community service to help others. Setting goals not only provides direction but also motivates you to keep moving forward. Finally, I’d like to share a Chinese proverb: "Study hard, and make progress every day." This simple phrase carries profound wisdom. Learning is not just about acquiring knowledge; it’s about shaping a better version of yourself—someone who can contribute to society. In this fast-paced world, knowledge evolves rapidly, and only through continuous learning can we keep up. "Make progress every day" reminds us that learning is an ongoing process, and each day should be a step toward growth and improvement.Principal Speech by Ms. Hermione

MIS is committed to nurturing individuals with a global perspective, lifelong learning skills, and well-rounded development. Our curriculum, whether the IB PYP in primary school or the middle school curriculum, emphasizes interdisciplinary learning, inquiry-based learning, and personalized growth. We hope that through your studies, you not only gain knowledge but also learn to think critically, collaborate, and innovate. This semester, primary students will explore the mysteries of knowledge through transdisciplinary units such as "How the World Works" and "Sharing the Planet." Secondary students will engage in interdisciplinary PBL projects in natural and social sciences, helping you integrate knowledge across subjects, break down disciplinary boundaries, and tackle complex problems. We are combining a more personalized learning experience with advanced technological tools such as IXL and Raz-Plus. These platforms provide tailored learning resources, helping you enhance your academic skills while making learning more enjoyable and efficient.Additionally, our club programs, specialized reading plans, talent time, and student activities have been optimized and innovated this semester. We will focus more on your autonomy in learning, integrating academics into diverse activities and training. We encourage you to break disciplinary boundaries, collaborate, innovate, and solve real-world problems. I hope every MIS student not only excels academically but also develops artistic expression and personal character. More importantly, I hope you cultivate a lifelong learner’s mindset, an open attitude, and a spirit of curiosity and exploration. No matter what the challenges or setbacks you face, remember that you have the support of your teachers and parents.MIS Reading CoursesDates: Every Monday to Thursday

Introduction to MIS G6-G8 IDU CoursesDate: February 19As an international school adopting the IB curriculum system, the Middle School of MIS integrates the IB MYP educational philosophy and offers an international junior high preparatory course based on the globally recognized IGCSE curriculum. Through eight major academic areas—Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, Arts, and Physical and Health Education—students are provided with a comprehensive educational experience. The school employs innovative teaching methods such as concept-driven and inquiry-based learning to cultivate students" critical thinking and interdisciplinary understanding. Emphasis is placed not only on knowledge transmission but also on developing key skills such as communication, social interaction, self-management, and global citizenship through reflection, action, and service.Building on this foundation, the Middle School of MIS has introduced the Interdisciplinary Unit (IDU) program for G6-G8 students. The IDU emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, requiring at least two subject teachers to jointly design the curriculum. Once students select a project, IDU teachers will collaborate with subject teachers in art, music, and other disciplines to guide students in solving a common problem or completing a comprehensive project from different disciplinary perspectives.

IB PYP Assembly – Review of the “Communicators” ActivityDate: February 20As an IB international school committed to fostering a global perspective and multicultural literacy, we have meticulously planned a series of engaging activities this semester. These activities aim to deepen students" understanding of the IB Learner Profile through practice and experience, while enhancing their comprehensive abilities. This semester, we have focused on three key themes: “How the World Works,” “Sharing the Planet,” and “How We Organize Ourselves,” guiding students to explore these topics in depth. We hope these activities will provide a multicultural learning environment, helping students improve their self-organization and collaboration skills, and enhance their understanding and respect for diverse cultures.Last week, we centered our activities around the theme “Communicators,” engaging students in a variety of activities. Organized by their respective houses, students discussed and signed a set of basic communication guidelines. During the assembly, they also discussed and agreed upon a set of common guidelines to be followed. Additionally, they actively explored the “dos and don"ts” of effective communication. Through collaboration, presentations, and project displays, students not only enhanced their communication skills but also further embodied the IB Learner Profile, developing their social, emotional, and collaborative competencies. The activities concluded successfully, with students gaining growth and confidence through practical experience.

MIS House Student Leadership CampaignDate: February 21MIS"s four houses constitute a vibrant, mixed-age community, bringing together students from G1 to G8. In this diverse environment, students learn how to interact with people of different ages, how to help and support each other, and how to practice values of inclusivity and acceptance. By participating in various house activities, students not only hone their social skills but also cultivate team spirit and leadership abilities in practice. In this house campaign, students who voluntarily sign up will give campaign speeches in their respective houses to become the student leader, student prefect, or house coordinator of the four houses this semester. This process will be determined by a vote among the students of each house, ensuring democratic and fair participation. The elected student leaders will take on important responsibilities, leading their house peers to collaborate and make progress in various fields such as academics, character, sports, and arts.
