Topic: A Goal You SetPart 2 (Cue Card): Describe a goal you set for yourself recently.You should say:● What the goal is● Why you set this goal● How you plan to achieve it● How you feel about making progress on itWell, the goal that I set for myself recently, it was my New Year"s goal and it was to run a 10k, a 10-kilometre run in under 43 minutes. So I"ll give you a little bit of background. I have never been very good at running. I always find that, first of all, I don"t really enjoy it. And then also if I start to get into the habit of it, I start to enjoy it a little bit.But then I always get injured. I"ve had injured feet, injured ankles, injured knees, injured back, and it always seems that whenever I am starting to enjoy running, something goes wrong.So I thought this year it"s going to be the year where I not only get into a good habit of running by gradually building up my speed over time, not trying to go too fast too soon, hopefully that way avoiding injuries, but also I"m going to try to complete a competitive run.I"ve never run a marathon, I"ve never run a half marathon. The only running that I"ve done has been a very casual run in the park, something in the UK called Parkrun, where every Saturday morning you run five kilometres.But I think that having that goal and saying by the end of the year I"m going to run 10k in under 43 minutes gives me enough time to gradually build up my running speed, build up my ability, not push my body beyond what it"s capable of, but still give me that chance to give me the push to be able to hopefully achieve something quite significant.And then if I do achieve it, the sense of satisfaction from having achieved it.
