Topic: A Goal You SetPart 3 (Discussion):Why do some people struggle to achieve their goals?Well, I think there"s probably a few reasons for that. The first one might be that people tend to set very ambitious goals and they set the goals of kind of what they want to have done and don"t really think through whether or not it"s feasible. So setting goals like becoming a millionaire by age 25, it"s not an especially realistic goal. And that"s why one of the letters in SMART for SMART goals, the R represents realistic. So I think that"s one thing. The second reason is that people find it difficult to be consistent and to be dedicated to their goals. So they"ll very often start and do the first two or three days following the steps of whatever goal it is that they"ve set.But then after two or three days, they start to slip back to their normal routine. So it"s hard for them to turn the enthusiasm of setting a goal into the habits and the routines of actually achieving that goal.Is it more important to set short-term goals or long-term goals, and why?I think that they can both work together. I think there"s not really one that"s more important than the other.Long-term goals are good for giving you the overall picture of where you"re going and give you that sense of direction and purpose. Short-term goals are very good for letting you know, okay, what should I be focused on this week? And I think if you are smart about setting one long-term goal and breaking that down into a series of short-term goals, then they"re both equally important. They"re as important as each other.编辑:Moon李▼IDE英创教育
