01

Somepeople suggest that people at old age should continue to work. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

After working hard for 40 or more years, a sizeable number of elderly people are planning how to enjoy their later lives. However, the ironic truth is that some people consider that some or most of the elderly have to keep working for various reasons. I, personally, totally disagree with their standpoint.

For one thing, if a considerable proportion of the aging population is still active in the job market, the employment rate among young job seekers might be lowered noticeably. The reason is that as to some positions that are not physically demanding, the senior job hunters are obviously more competitive than younger ones due to their abundant working experiences. Besides, those old employees are likelyto feel unfair and dissatisfied about the society, because they as tax payers have been working for many years, contributing greatly tothe development of the society. This is to say, they have the rightto enjoy their care-free retirement life. Nevertheless, in their twilight years they unfortunately find that their hard work is completely unrequited and futile.

For another, as we all know, the aging problem is exactly what is plaguing many countries all over the world. In those countries, thereis not enough labor force, and consequently the elderly people have to work. It is widely regarded as the easiest way to deal with the shortage of labor force. In fact, in some cases the easiest way is often the incorrect one. There are still some other methods that are more feasible and rational than pushing elderly people back into thejob market. For example, governments can promote the usage of robotsin many industries to reduce the labor demand. Also, importing laborforce from other countries is easy to implement in contemporary world.

Inconclusion, governments should make any effort to be responsible for providing aged citizens a pressure-free retirement life instead offorcing them to work hard again.

Somepeople say job satisfaction is more important than job security, while others believe that having a permanent job is better thanenjoying the job. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Althoughthe majority of job seekers long for jobs with both satisfaction and security, nearly all positions can only offer one of the two. Amongall those who are seeking for jobs, there thus emerges a debate whether satisfaction from jobs is of more significance than stability.

For one thing, it is generally known that job satisfaction contributes substantially to both people’s life quality and career success. To start with, all employees in this present-day society must spend aconsiderable proportion of their time on their work, so once people are able to gain sufficient enjoyment from their jobs, they are more likely to have more positive and affirmative attitudes toward theirlives. Hereby, their life quality can be elevated enormously. On top of this, people with jobs full of satisfaction have more possibilities to achieve their career success. The primary cause isthat those people are willing to devote their time and energy totheir work, and due to their efforts they will naturally achieve more than others.

For another, advocates for job security argue that permanent jobs imply stable and constant income, which can be thought to be the most considerably basic foundation of their living. Without it, people might suffer from financial stress, therefore resulting in the fact that they may pay less attention and energy to their work.Notwithstanding, admittedly stable jobs usually refer to some repetitive and monotonous positions without any novelty that canarouse people's interest. Namely, people with jobs like this willlose their enthusiasm day by day to their work, subsequently causingthat they will be washed out by their work reluctantly, or they maygive up their jobs voluntarily. Hence, putting emphasis on job stability only is not rational at all.

To sum up, as to job hunters, obviously job satisfaction ought to begiven the priority in most cases, and meanwhile job security cannotonly provide a stable income but also sparks off a greater loss.

Somepeople argue that the development of technology is making our lives too complex, and the solution is for everyone to accept a simplerway of life without using that technology. To what extent do youagree or disagree?

Ourlife is being overwhelmingly changed at every second by the advancement of technology. As a result, some people begin to cry out that technology puts our lives into an extremely complex situation, and hereby the solution to fix this is also what the public are concerned about.

For one thing, the complexity of our lives is unavoidable with the advancement of technology. An instance in point is that people’s social circle is substantially extended, which is to say people in this present-day society need to deal with relationships with farmore people than ever before. On top of this, with electronicdevices, which people have to use to enjoy a modern lifestyle, being updated all the time, people have to absorb so much information tostick with latest versions. In other words, people nowadays have tograsp more knowledge and skills for surviving than in the past.

For another, it is undeniable that some technology can be a double-edgedsword, bringing us convenience and inconvenience at the same time.Consequently, pessimists to technological development suggest that people should give up using technology in our lives, and instead asimple and easy life is what people ought to enjoy. Actually, without utilization of technology, people’s lives must be in a big mess.Getting rid of primitive lifestyles is original reason why people have plenty of technology. For instance, no one can stop driving their cars due to the possibility of car accidents. In fact, what people are really doing is using technology to make our cars saferrather than abandoning them.

Inconclusion, technology is not only what causes complexity for ourlives, but what also facilitates our modern life. Not perfect as it is, no one is able to live without it.

Inrecent years, the pressures placed upon students in schools and university is increasing and they are pushed to work hard from ayoung age. Do you think it is a positive or negative development?

Aconsiderable proportion of students and their parents, in this present-day society, cannot help from complaining that students aresuffering from incredible stress in schools and colleges. It seems that they only focus on some possibly adverse outcomes of pressure, but ignore the potential advantages.

First, almost all students in this day and age are being surrounded by awhole variety of distractions like online games and hit TV dramas. For instance, students of a young age often lack self-control, which implies that their study can be more negatively impacted. Pressuregiven by their teachers or parents is able to greatly help them getrid of those unnecessary disturbances. Further more, under properpressure, those students can be highly motivated and their study efficiency can be substantially enhanced.

On top of this, students studying under constant pressure can gain skills to cope with stress. Those skills will certainly play irreplaceable and significant roles in their future life and career.Without any doubt, every student will finally go out into the world and will be confronted with far more stress than they used to face inschool. At that point, there is not enough time for them to getaccustomed to it, unless they have already been trained for living with pressure.

Contrarily, excessive pressure will definitely bring those students some unwelcomed results such as insomnia, anxiety and even depression. Infact, both teachers and parents can control students’ level of stress, and assist them to relieve the stress scientifically andreasonably. Admittedly, neither studying in a pressure-freeenvironment nor an undue pressure environment is a rational choicefor students.

In summary, students will meet pressure in their lives sooner or later,so being plagued by a certain amount of stress in schools and colleges seems more acceptable and positive for students as they can tackle all of the hardships with useful guidance from teachers andparents. If not, how arduous their future life might be is beyond ourimagination.
