19. 坏掉又修好的东西Part 2Describe something that was broken in your home and then repaired 描述一个你家里坏掉又被你修好的东西You should say:：What it isHow it was brokenHow you got it repairedAnd how you felt about it示范答案：Nowadays, I normally buy a newer model rather than getting old things repaired. However, recently our washing machine broke down and as it was under warranty, we decided to get it repaired. The machine just stopped working. When we switched it, the lights didn"t come on. At first, we thought that there might be a problem with the socket. However, when we plugged another electronic device into the socket, it worked. That"s when we knew the machine was broken for sure. I am not sure of the reason, but I think it was voltage fluctuation. It rained pretty heavily and due to the rain, there was a voltage fluctuation in our area. The fluctuation probably burned one of the electronic circuits in the machine. We had purchased the machine just a few months before that incident, so it was under warranty. We called the company and they scheduled a technician visit to our house. The repairman told us that the main circuit was burnt, but he was also not sure what caused that. He said that the part was made to order, so ordered the part and told us that when he receives the part, he will come again and replace it. I thought it would be quick but it took us a whole week. But the laundry just piled up and we just waited. Two days after the repairman came and fixed it, we got an apology email from the company. Part 31.Are lT-related jobs valued more by society?I believe so. Nowadays, the way we communicate, study, work or ourselves are all closely related to T industry. For entertain instance, we use social media to interact with friends and family. conduct distant learning or video-conferencing, and playing computer games on line. All of these could not be achieved without the hard work of IT professionals who write programs or applications, upgrade them, and maintain the function of them. No wonder IT-related jobs are valued more by society, which is also witnessed by the decent salary that these kinds of job holders can earn. 2.ls the quality of products worse than before?It"s hard to say. On the one hand, nowadays a lot of products are automatically manufactured, which means that they are produced by machines which can work precisely and accurately, thus greatly reducing the possibility of human errors in the production process and improving the quality of the commodities. On the other hand, some manufacturers are driven by profits and they tend to use low-quality raw materials, so that the quality and the durability of the final products are inevitably impaired. 3.What kinds of things do people like to repair by themselves?Well, the first kind of things that people tend to repair on their own are those not complicated to be fixed. These products, such as a bicycle, a table or a window, may be simple in their design and people can easily figure out the problems and come up with how to repair them. Another kind is those DlY products, like a beautiful and delicate handicraft. Such items are not standardized. so it is hard to find spare parts or professionals to repair them. 4. Why do people like to get their mobile phones repaired in specialized stores?Well, a lot of mobile phones are expensive and pricey, so people tend to entrust the repair to specialized stores. These are more reliable and trustworthy, because they boast professional technicians to identify the problems and figure out a solution. Plus, some cell phone brands have their own repair stores where their customers can enjoy a discount or even free repair within the warranty period. 编辑：Moon▼IDE英创教育
