With the IB mindset, MIS students are knowledgeable and well-versed in communication and self-reflection, placing importance on their character development along with their academic pursuits. They approach learning with curiosity and a spirit of inquiry, following social etiquette and possessing the ability to collaborate with others. MIS students maintain individualized development in their learning processes, exploring the essence of things, reasoning, and substantiating arguments, and deepening their knowledge through various forms of discovery, investigation, and research methods. They apply their academic knowledge to practical situations; MIS students" learning process is a self-exploration and self-actualization process. How do MISers learn and live? Let"s take a look at the highlights of last week.↓↓↓Exciting Event Review1Monday Noon Assembly Date: February 24Hosted by Plato House

I want to share a story with you—a story that, like Aesop"s fables, contains endurable wisdom. It"s called "The Ant and the Grasshopper," and it offers us a perfect opportunity to reflect on two core qualities in the IB Learner Objectives: being principled and caring. In this story, the ants work hard all through the summer, preparing for the winter ahead. They are focused and responsible, always staying true to their principles as they do know the importance of planning for the future. Meanwhile, the grasshopper spends the entire summer singing and enjoying the present without considering the consequences of its actions. When winter arrives, it finds itself unprepared and in trouble. This story imparts a significant lesson for us as we embark on the new semester: clear goals serve as beacons guiding us. Just as ants learn the purpose of their labor, we too must establish specific academic objectives for the semester—whether it be enhancing proficiency in a particular subject, cultivating new research skills, or engaging in service activities. By breaking down these goals into weekly milestones, we can have incremental growth day by day, much like ants storing provisions. This spirit of adhering to principles demands that we make thoughtful, responsible choices, considering the long-term impact of our actions. Whether it"s completing assignments on time, managing time effectively, or balancing academics with personal life, the integration of goals and principles helps us build habits that will benefit us throughout our lives.Caring is another important quality we possess as IB Learners. It means showing empathy, compassion, and respect for others. In some versions of the story, the ants help the grasshopper by sharing their resources and keep it away from starving. This act of caring reminds us that as members of the MIS community, when we support each other in times of need, our community becomes stronger.I want to remind everyone that we are all members of the MIS community. Whether it"s by sharing study materials, organizing extracurricular activities, or supporting each other in difficult times, we can make this community warmer and more inclusive.MIS HonorsThe Awards of the American Mathematics Competition (AMC 10)Congratulations to MIS student, Max Wangfor earning the Achievement Roll in the American Mathematics Competition (AMC 10).

IB PYP Assembly: A Review of the "Kelso"s Choices" ActivityDate: February 27The focus of this assembly was on the "Reflective" trait and self-management skills, aiming to cultivate students" ability to solve problems independently. We introduced eight strategies from Kelso"s Choices to help students make wise decisions when facing conflicts and challenges. These strategies include:  1. Ignore: Disregard minor issues to avoid unnecessary conflicts.  2. Walk Away: Leave the situation temporarily to calm down.  3. Share Feelings: Express emotions and thoughts verbally.  4. Ask for Help: Seek support and advice from teachers or friends.  5. Compromise: Negotiate with others to find mutually acceptable solutions.  6. Apologize: Offer an apology if you are in the wrong to defuse tensions.  7. Use Humor: Alleviate tension with a light-hearted approach.  8. Take Turns: Resolve issues fairly through turn-taking.  The assembly commenced with a vibrant opening performance by the G1 students, who ignited the enthusiasm of the audience with their song and dance routine of "Kelso"s Choice." The lyrics incorporated Kelso"s eight strategies, such as "Calm down first, then communicate, and sharing turns makes it easier," allowing the audience to naturally grasp the core concepts in an enjoyable atmosphere. As the main organizers of the assembly, the G1 students demonstrated remarkable organizational and creative skills. Four young hosts confidently took the stage, seamlessly connecting the event segments in both English and their mother tongue. They not only introduced the significance of the theme but also engaged the audience through interactive Q&A sessions, guiding everyone to reflect on "how to become thinkers."
